I received a snowglobe for Christmas and the warning label says not to leave it?

in the sun because it will catch fire. Will it also catch fire in the summer when it’s near 90 degrees where I live? I mean should I get rid of the thing? Would breaking it apart and getting rid of the liquid make it safer to have it in warm temperatures? And if so what should I use to de-glue it?

I’m astonished at the warning label.

I wonder if the concern is the snow globe acting as a magnifying glass, concentrating the sun’s rays to a pinpoint, like I used to do when I was a kid?

If so, there’s no danger in 90 degree room temperature. Just keep it out of direct sunlight.

It is probably just trying to prevent vaporization of the liquid in the globe, building pressure leaking on your furniture and causing damage….

i read about a certain brand or type of snow globe being recalled by the company that made them, due to the globes tendency to cause fires.
according to the article, the glass globe acted like a magnifying glass when in ‘direct sunlight’, and can cause flammable materials to ignite.
i would say that as long as you do not place your snow globe on a window sill, or table in front of a window, or door, you should be o.k.
that being said, be sure that you keep an eye how sunlight hits the spot where you would like to display the globe, before you place it there. if you are thinking of a table between two windows, make sure that sunlight doesn’t shine on the table from either window. it may be better to display it on a fireplace mantel or bookshelf situated on an interior wall, and high enough up that the sunlight doesn’t shine on the globe at all.
also, the sun changes as the seasons change, so factor that into your plans also.
good luck, hope this helps, car dude.[wpp limit_page="2"]
